Transmission possible issue

My car is 1997 caddy deville I'm the second owner.Ive had it 2weeks and its was fine u til I got it on highway up to 70 mph n the rpm were staying high.I got it hone and it seems to be having trouble going into gear right away but it eventually engages into gear Any possible suggestions.Its has been serviced impeccably by original owner.Fluid was changed less than 20k miles ago and mechanic say no issues just that at next service to check the linkage...Could this be a possible fix or does it sound like it could be something more serious.
