Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have replaced battery and starter with no luck. I had this problem very
shortly a while back, i would turn the key and nothing after a few tries, it will
turn and come on. Just happened again but this time not turning, lights come
on gauges come on and no turn over. I'm leaning towards anti-theft or Key
Chip problem since i have tried turning the key and jumping the starter with a
screw driver, the starter turns but the truck wont come on or stay on.

Its sounds just like a problem I had before. You need to replace the neutral safety switch on the transmission. Or the linkage has slipped a little to the point the switch thinks its not in park. Try starting in neutral. Will that work

I got the problem fixed, but it took me a while to figure out. At first, I thought it was the neutral safety switch but after trying to start on neutral that didn't work. Turned out to be the ignition switch located in the steering column. I purchase for 38 bucks and started right up. I also thought it was the anti-theft system but I was told the engine actually turns over but won't start or starts for 2 seconds and shuts down. Thanks for your help, hope this helps someone else.
