when my gas gauge gets to 1/4 tank, it resets to full and the computer resets for full tank. the milage resets but the fuel usage does not.

Try some fuel system cleaner. The sulfer and ethanol in today's gas leave a coating on the variable resister used in the fuel gauge sending unit.
