location of blend damper

Asked by GuruWXX4 Mar 31, 2017 at 08:37 AM about the 2007 Ford F-150 FX4 SuperCab Short Bed

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

my truck is stuck on heat, the ac line is cold to touch when I put ac on, I partially took apart my dash board, I removed glove box and panel above glovebox, the box behind glovebox was also cold to the touch, so im assuming its a damper issue, just having trouble finding it, summer is coming and id like to do it myself, thanks for any help you can give

Locate the blend door actuator. It's about the size of a cigarette pack, usually color black. It's actually a little plastic motor which moves the blend door from AC to heat. Remove, there should be a cog gear extending down into the damper. While connected, move the selector from cold to hot and make sure the motor is function. You'll see the little gear moving.
