Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I had a leak in my power steering pressure hose and brought it to my local mechanic.  Great guy.  "The dealer alternative".  Really clean shop.  Great customer service.  But pricey.  $233 for the parts, $20 for new fluid, $5 waste removal, and $325 in labor.  Am I being taken?  With NJ sales tax it was $623.  Yikes.

$233 would be right if it was the line with the hydroboost pump, assuming he paid for a dealer part and not an aftermarket one (about $180 for the Hydroboost and $79 without). He definitely took you on the labor and fluid.

Thanks much for the sanity check Jeff! Guess I need to find a new mechanic.
