2000 Cadillac DeVille Ashtray light Stays on when closed!

I had the ashtray/A/C power module open
and noticed that the light for the ashtray
was hanging behind it all and wouldn't allow
it to close. I reattached the light and it
closes fine, but I noticed the light doesn't
shut off when it's closed. Does this light
normally stay on? Because it gets pretty hot
on the back side of the bulb casing, I don't
want it to burn anything! Please help if you
can!

If the light goes off when the headlights are off I'd consider it normal. Since the bulb assembly was removed from the ashtray make sure you have the correct bulb in there. It should be a 161 light bulb. Hope that helps! Jim
