does the starters click when they are out or going out in my 2001 STS?

My 2001 STS just started having problems not starting sometimes. Does the starter on these cars click like the old ones did? As everyone knows it could be any number of things. Love these cars, but sometimes they are a pain. I have been driving one for the past 20 years.

ck the battery and dirty battery cables first. if you can get started , take to a parts store and they will ck for free. :)
