2011 Grand Sport Corvette Temp Gage

Asked by TinoLs Apr 09, 2018 at 11:56 PM about the 2011 Chevrolet Corvette Z16 Grand Sport 1LT Coupe RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Why is it that on my 2011 Grand Sport when I turn it
on again after driving sometimes my temp will go
up to 230 and my fans turn on but it goes back
down, is that normal? Also yesterday while I was
parked and idiling it went past the middle mark a
little and once I started driving it went back down, is
it normal?

Yes its normal. When the car sits after being driven the heat from the engine and especially the exhaust it trapped under the hood,That’s why when you start the temp is up and the cans come on but soon as the temp sw reads the engine actual engine temp the gage will return to operating temp and the fans will shut down

Thank you frank, I really appreciate. It’s my first time owning a corvette so I was just wondering.
