Service airbag warning

Asked by Mark Oct 02, 2019 at 03:02 PM about the 2002 Cadillac DeVille DTS Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

the car starts but the last time I drove it it had
the security light flashing and now when I
start it it says service airbags and has me
locked out of everything else for my digital
instrument cluster. I even took the negative
battery terminal off and let it sit overnight
and put it all back hooked it all back up and it
still says service airbag and won't let me I
can't even access my obdlink with my
scanner. The security light is off but no
blinkers and can't use the truck or the fuel
door can access it with my key fob or the
button on the dash. But it starts up and runs
fine just a lot of stuff ain't working and it says
service airbag

Obviously, GM doesn't want you driving the car with a defective airbag component (and neither does the federal govt). I recommend you take it to a shop and have a determination made that identifies the failing component. It may be a sensor and might not be expensive to replace.
