2011 Ford Fusion AC weirdness

My AC Compressor went bad a few months ago and I've since had it replaced.   
Now, however Max AC only comes out the top vents and turns off all vent
indicator lights.  AC and recirculate buttons work the same, when pressed
whatever vent had been illuminated remains illuminated but if i hit the Max AC
button all vent illumination lights go off and cold air comes out the top vent
only (even if I had it set to floor before)   Can anyone think of a reason the
indicator lights would go out and also why I can now only get max ac out the
top vent?

Let me clarify, AC and recirculate work the same as they did before the compressor was replaced. Meaning the vent lights remain on no matter which of those buttons I push. It just seems that the max ac turns off the indicator and switches the cold air to the top vent. It's impossible to get max ac out of bottom vent.
