This is somewhat of a common issue. The actuator/latch assembly is bad. Chances are you can still lock the door manually. The replacement latch is right around $200, you can install it youself but it's a pain. There is a cheap fix procedure, but it still involves drilling out several rivets on the lock assembly itself, and the repair doesn't always work. In other words, time for a new actuator/latch assembly. Do not buy a used part, it will fail.... Quickly.

Just for anyone that wants to know the part cost me $14.00 online and it took me 20 minutes from start to finish with the suggested tools ready.

Walter, where did you get the directions from? I have a 2015 Fusion with a passenger door that won’t lock.
