does the reset need to be used after a oil change

the engine light came on. I checked all fluid levels and everything seems OK. I was wondering if after so many mils you need to reset, after the oil change has been done?

The check engine light means there is a problem. The maintenance light may mean the oil needs to be changed.

Brian, no the engine light wont come on after an oil change unless they did something wrong. If it was because of them the most likely cause is a loose air filter housing or something else they would have touched while checking for any other needed services. Do have the computer scanned just to make sure that its not just something that was left loose by accident.

If the light is the oil change light it should have been reset by the oil change mechanic. Take it by and have them reset it.
