The sensor is indeed bad, new one coming. But now, I have a lot of air in system. Can I run the bad tank with sensor disconnected to add badly needed coolant as the engine idles to bleed the system?
I had removed the recovery tank to wash it out as recommended on a
Youtube video. I also tested the sensor and found it to be defective. I've
ordered a new tank and sensor. While doing so I noticed that with the
sensor no longer connected to its cable, water flowed out of the tank easily.
At this time, there is so little coolant in the engine that the heater provides no
heat and the engine overheats if I run it too long.
While waiting for the new tank, I am tempted to hook up the defective tank
and use it while disconnected from the sensor cable to add badly needed

can run the engine for longer than 5 minutes and had heat in the cabin while
