What does P,R,N,D available ranges may be
engaged without depressing the brake

You have to come to a complete stop for Park and Reverse & Reverse to Drive. You can go from Neutral to drive without pressing on the brake. Although once you take it out of park, you can do what ever you want, just not good on the trany.
