lotta scrub up clean up business here, recommend some latex gloves a breathing mask and safety googles if you're gonna do this....a trip to the hardware store first should be on your roster~

It's not healthy to breathe acid fumes, but think of all the surrounding metal that has to corrode to the beat~~24 hours a day, nonstop...a nine year old battery isn't going to accept charge very well, and within a couple of years...not at all, so if you plan to get five more years out of your caddy, would buy a brand named guaranteed, pro-rate-able return policy such as interstate provides~

if your battery was no good there would be more wrong than just the stop lamps not working. check and see if your getting power to the connectors at the tail lights

the starting system requires alot of amps if the battery was corroded up you would think it would have trouble starting.

In an article I found that fixed my 2004 Cadillac CTS with no brake lights. Cadillac will not tell you, but this is a common problem that is part of a service bulletin that requires reprogramming of the Body Control Module due to computer ground fault of the brake lights. It's about one hour of labor with the cost of both brake light bulb replacement (that's $100 + tax). Find the article in Google Plus - CTS Cadillac Brake Light Not Working - 3rd Brake Light OK."
