Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an 07 525i and the fault transmission light came on will not drive - is a
transmission need or could the battery fuses be bad?

The first step would be to check the transmission fluid level to see if it is low.

The only way you can check the level is to put it up on jacks (Make sure it is level) make sure the car is warm meaning it is running or has been running. There is a bolt at the bottom of the car in the transmission that you have to partially back out to check level. Do not back it out completely if there is fluid coming out. If there is nothing coming out from the bolt, then fill and recheck. There is NO DIPSTICK to use on BMW's.
