Car doesn't start ...

Asked by vaznoni1 Dec 14, 2013 at 12:04 PM about the 2004 BMW 5 Series 530i Sedan RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I'm trying to guess what the issue is. The car turns over and sounds like it's about to
start but doesn't. I don't think it's a battery because all the lights and everything work.
Maybe alternator? Guesses anyone???

Also, not sure if related (saw others have this issue) earlier this week my heat didn't
seem to be working properly. I had to use my seat warmers to keep warm :*)

If the car is turning over but not starting means the battery is ok unless it drags while turning. Also check the intake air system. sometimes when a large enough vacuum is present from leak in air intake rubber pieces this can happen.

I forgot to mention that the alternator only affects the car after being in running condition to support and maintain battery power.

Make sure your getting fuel and spark. And if your gettin that and still. It won't start. I would look into any type of electrica relays..

You also can't have your battery and alt and starter checked at auto zone for free..... I once took a starter off a car thinking that was my problem. But ended up being just a worn out tired seven volt battery. That's was causing my stater too click... jfyif
