What to do

I bought a 2005 Escalade just yesterday from
what seemed a reputable used car lot. Tested
out was all fine great & dandy for the hour or
so we checked over & drove around there.
Got him down to out the door price for what
he was asking was about $2000 less than his
KBB calculations was ok with. Got halfway
home was called & told brake light was out
then no sooner than that occurred the
speedometer stuck & has quit working. Went
straight to mechanic fixed light found out to
fix speedo they have to remove entire
steering column cost of just part $350 no
clue on labor. What should I do?? I feel so
screwed over. I feel certain that salesman
knew a lot more info than he ever offered
aside from ITS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED. Do
I argue & try to return vehicle or bite it & fix it?

Depends on the terms of the sale. If it was sold AS Is and you signed the papers for that most likely it's up to you. With some used car sales there is some type of warranty covering only specific issues for a period of say 30 days. If there was any type of warranty period it probably would have been in you best interest to call dealer before repairs. I would still call and let him/her know what's up anyway. You might at least get them to reimburse a portion of the bill if there was any warranty period. Might also be a good idea to check your state laws concerning car sales. Good Luck!

You don't have to remove the steering column to take out the speed out with comes out in one cluster and it's just a motor behind it you can send the whole cluster panel out haven't returned for like two hundred bucks all gauges recalibrated it's just a $3 stepper motor that went bad

Laws vary from state to state. Check your own states DMV or department of consumer affairs.

If anyone is you feel is to ripping you off it would be the person telling you that the steering column has to come out just Google how to remove speedometer for your vehicle and you'll see what I mean so easy a woman could do it LOL
