BMW 320d Slow on pull away

Asked by Wayne Dec 31, 2018 at 01:46 PM about the 2006 BMW 3 Series 320d

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2006 BMW 320d AUTO. A fiesta 1.0l could beat me
pulling away from a set of ligjts. I have no warning ligjts, no
smoke at all and car has only done 89,000 miles.

It has just failed the MOT as the DPF has been "Tampered"
with.

The garage says that they think the insides have been
removed and this is what is causing the Car to be slow.
I have ordered a new DPF as I need the MOT.

I have googled so much and it seems that this would
actually help the Car if the DPF has been stripped. My
question is.. if the Car has had the insides removed but not
're mapped wpuldbthis cause a loss of power??

If there is an exhaust restriction you would lose a lot of power. On a diesel with power loss I would check the fuel pressure and turbo function/boost.
