How do I fix 2005 cadillac cars brake lights 3rd light is okay

When 8 hit the brake petal my brake lights don't come on but the
3rd light us ok

could be the brake light actuator mounted above the brake pedal arm. sound like it is shorted at the wire connections or a short in the lights
