How do I get the top down on my dad's 1999 328i? We dont have the manual anymore

Trying to sell my elderly father's 1999 328i convertible. Upon trying to show it, noticed
that the top would not go down. Is there a switch or latch we should know about? Thanks.

Make sure you have the locks released on the top

I have a 2003 and I don't know if it it the same or not but there is a compartment or tray that moves in the trunk to give you more space is this tray is not down the top won't retract and your top lights will flash
