where can i find the automatic gearbox/ dipstick for my e36 318i 1997

None on the car. the way to check the fluid level is to put the car on jack stands/ a hoist, run it, engage all the gears for a few seconds each (foot on brake) and then remove the top fill plug on the side of the transmission. fluid should be level with the bottom of the fill plug. check the sticker on the trans to find the trans fluid required if you need to top it up.
