I was parked along side the road to wait for a friend so i shut the car off, it would not restart, i rolled it and pop started it, then it died/shut off & would not restart?

the car wont turn over, all lights will turn on but the lights are very dim, car wont even attempt to turn
on, check engine light came on & i tried to read the codes but it didnt work for me, me and my buddy
think its either starter, altenator or battery?

The lights dimming is pointing toward a battery issue but that doesn't meant your alternator isn't causing the problem that killed the battery. Replace the battery then see what the alternator is charging at.

Battery and alternator. The alternator is actually easy to remove on an E36. You can take it to be tested at your local autoparts store if you are not sure. The same can be done once you charge you battery and apply a load test. You may have a bad cell. How old is the battery, if you were the one to have replaced it last?

i bought the car a year ago with that battery, i assumed it was the altenator
