2006 Cadillac DTS electrical issue, full battery won't start without jump?!

Asked by May 29, 2017 at 11:51 PM about the 2006 Cadillac DTS Luxury III

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My DTS had been experiencing some electrical issues
lately and I'm trying to see if anyone has any ideas. The
first issue I had was driving to work, and I turned my
windshield wipers and blinker on at the same time and
suddenly I couldn't get either to turn off. Parked at work
and couldn't get the car to shut off even with key
removed. Removed power from alternator and battery to
kill it and started it with jumps a few days later and it
drove great for a while. In my several attempts to get it
going again I have found success by charging the battery
to 100% AND jumping it (wouldn't start with battery fully
charged without jump) to get it to start again. Once it fires
up it runs and drives fine, but typically doesn't start back
up after driving a couple times. I'm thinking there must be
a short somewhere or a poor connection to the battery?
The battery is under the seat so there really isn't any rust
or corrosion on the posts. There is a ton of clicking from
relays throughout the car when it decides to go haywire
and some sort of security mechanism will lock my key in
the ignition. Any ideas on what could be the issue?
