Optimal running temp is 230-240. On faster driving
90-120mph, the temp runs to 250. Shouldn't the
water pump keep it at 240 ?
Original equipment thermostat temp is 206°F. Your BMW is running way too hot! You should have the cooling system flushed and flow tested either by your local BMW Dealer or a reputable shop that specializes in imports. DON'T let a gas station or chain type garage near it! They'll have no idea of what they're doing on this car!! BMW cooling systems are very fussy and they don't like being run hot at all! HTH. -Jim
I would recommend replacing your thermostat if it's running around 240 F. Jim got that spot on... do NOT let a chain "mechanic" work on that car either. That is one of the most dangerous things a BMW owner can do.
