BMW xdrive tire replacement
I have 2011 BMW 328i xdrive and I'm driving from Pennsylvania to
Tennessee. Upon stopping for the night in Virginia I discovered that I have
leaking rear tire. Is it acceptable to replace two tires on an xdrive BMW? I
don't really have the money to replace all four tires at the moment.
On an XDrive, no it is not, all the tires must be within 2/32" from each other in tire diameter, the safest is too replace all 4. Or next find a used tire that has the proper tread depth and is the same manufacture. If you do put on only 2 tires it can damage the XDrive system severely enough to leave you sitting on the side of the road with a trail of fluid following you to your stopping place. More information on this can be found in the owners manual.
I know those tires are runflats. But maybe you can you find a used tire locally that has the same tread depth, doesn;t have to be a runflat. It might be enough to get you home so you can buy a new set?
