Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Not so much a question here but a complaint.   I have already had to
replace throttle body on my edge....600+ dollars.  Now we had to do water
pump.  I love the edges, nice ride, quiet.   But we just paid 1578.33 dollars
to replace a water pump because Ford decided to implant it into the engine
and run it via a timing chain.   Many hours of labor which was most of the
cost.  Very disappointed with Ford for having this SIMPLE fix turn into a
living nightmare.  C"mon Ford!!  This will severely affect my decision on
purchasing another Edge..

Well it didn't take long to give up that edge!! We were always a chevy family and I stepped outside the box. Loved the edge just too costly. Replaced with a 17 Chevy Silverado Z71 4x4 we already have an 07 chevy truck love it...minimal probs

I don't believe designs such as this are for the purposes of saving weight. I think it is designed to force consumers to make the decision to trade in on a new vehicle soon after the warranty runs out or at least purchase an extended warranty or service contract. It's about forcing the DIY consumer to pay for repairs either up front or on the back end...but they are going to squeeze it out of you one way or another. Just another way corporations are using technological advancements against the consumer, not for us. Just like the decrease in gas mileage. I had a Honda Accord with over 100k miles in the 80's that got 50 mpg on interstate with A/C running, and it wasn't a hybrid. As we all know, there were no hybrids back then. Now companies brag about a new economy car getting 35mpg. I guess that's what they claim to be progress.
