My Edge will not start with the key in the ignition. It will start with the fob. What causes this?
The car will start with the fob. When the key is placed in the igniton, the engine shuts down. I am getting a "starting system failure" message.
Try,placing key in truck, then start with fob,may help,if not you may need a new chip key.
It's a proximity key that must be in the car to start it, and may have lost its programming. Thy this, I can't write it out, besides it a pdf file that can't be copied and pasted Page 145 in your owners manual. if you dont have the manual you can download it here http://www.fordservicecontent.com/Ford_Content/catalog/owner_guides/11edgog1e.pdf
Pretty sure its the chip in the key. I've got full power. Car starts with the fob, shuts off with the fob and the alarm works. When I start it with the fob, it shuts down, as soon as I put the key in and turn it. Spare key is on its way. Hoping that will start the car. Thanks for the quick response.
Let us know, ok?
So, I had the same issue and I press the panic button while in my vehicle, stopped the panic alarmed, turned the key in ignition, and my vehicle finally started.
