Well, if you do not have a code scanner then do this: with the key in the off position, remove the positive battery terminal, wait about 15 minutes, replace the terminal, making sure that it is tight; turn the key to the on position for a moment to allow the computer to reset and start the car. The codes should be gone. Some times when you do this it takes a bit longer for the engine to start, it is o.k.

Did you check the #1 plug? I would not assume that nothing is wrong.

Removing the battery cable will also loose all my set-ups for seat position, auto window function, and some others. Sadly, I've forgotten the sequence to to reconfigure windows, door locks, etc. Others are just a nuisance. I have not checked the engine. Also have forgotten which plug is No. 1.... But I am suspicious that a rear issue would result in poor engine performance? Thanks for helping!!

Buy a code reader to reset the codes without losing settings. You may want to check all the plugs to see if one looks bad.

The #1 plug is at the left rear as you face the engine at the front of the car.

Ah, yes! Next question, how does that plastic beauty cover come off? Feels like it's just snapped into place.

I can't say but if there are no fasteners then it snaps on. Be careful and find where the snaps are and only apply force where the snaps are.
