Breaks or something more?

I have had my car for 6 months only 61K on it. I
have changed breaks AND rotors 2xs since I got
the car the most recent being in July. This was due
to everytime I step on the breaks the steering
wheel shakes. The most recent set was very
expensive at the mechanics suggestion since I
was driving long distances at first to work but a
month later I moved 5 miles from my job. The
issue is still happening and the last few weeks has
gotten worse almost as if I have gone through the
set again. Now for the last 4 days when I am
almost stopped the car is making a thumping
noise. I have checked tires and rods and both
seem fine. I have an appointment this week to go
back yet again but I'd like to have some
suggestions from others what you think this could
be before they tell me I just rode the breaks too
hard which I have the opposite issue with. I have
only put 600 miles on the car since the last
change.

I suspect your car has at least 110K miles....my first thought was wheel balance but you would notice that at higher speeds... you have worn front suspension parts (tie rod ends, maybe ball joints, and or rubber mounts) When you apply the brakes, the toe-in changes because of the worn parts, take it to a good independent alignment shop. it could be expensive.

Car has just 61,000 on it. I am going to ask him to check the calipers and break slides since I've read they can seize up. I've checked the tire rods and they seem pretty solid. I'm hoping it's not my alignment :(

I have a 2011 Camry with 122K and no brake or suspension issues. I replaced the brakes and fluid myself at 78K. I serviced the calipers at this time also. I have a friend that has a 2011 Camry with 118K and he has had a bad front wheel bearing and several nagging brake issues. He had a rotor not sitting flush on the hub creating a steering wheel vibration. He bought a new rotor only to return it. I told him to wire wheel the rust off the hub and this fixed his issue.
