Why are my brake lights staying on?

Asked by jfoley4 Dec 31, 2014 at 06:27 PM about the 2011 Kia Sorento EX V6

Question type: General

My brake lights stay on after car is turned off.  I have to restart the car and shut if off for the brake lights to go off.  It has happened twice since KIA did a recall replacement of the brake switch

sounds like its sticking or in.my cars case it does the same thing but its because my interior dimmer burned out so now when headlights come on dash lights go out. if i turn yhe headlights off after shutting the car off i have to flio ignition to on and.off again for them.to go out. idk. weird stuff. throw some lithium or liquid graphite at that switch and see whT happens
