It sounds like your radio ACM is dying based on the issue you described. Luckily, this is a very easy fix. You can buy an after market ACM on Ebay for anywhere from $50 - $100, I purchased mine from the seller "Discount OEM Radios". There are plenty of YouTube videos online showing how to replace them. It's a really easy fix. You will need a trim removal tool or butter knife and a 7mm socket wrench to open up your front console. You can use a butter knife to pry open the top part of your console, and then the 7mm socket to remove the bolts that hold the bottom portion (AC vents and radio buttons). From there, it's a plug & play part. Just make sure before buying that the part on your current ACM is interchangeable with the new ACM you're buying. Discount OEM radios will assist you with this too. Good luck.

I own a 2015 fiesta. A few months ago, my speakers were popping so loud it would make you jump out of your skin. Replaced the speakers and it didn’t fix it. Eventually last month, had to replace entire radio with an after market radio because Ford electronics suck! A four year old car and the radio is crap in it. Ridiculous. You would think Ford could make or have better units made than this!
