Asked by Tree1960 Jul 06, 2020 at 09:09 PM about the 2010 Toyota Tacoma Access Cab V6 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

What could be wrong to repair.  Checked gas cap. It was
loose. Tightened it up turned off truck restarted and still on.
Does it need to be off over night then restart?

The check engine light will remain on until the computer runs the diagnostics on the EVAP system and decides that everything is ok. This will take a few days. To speed up the process keep your gas gauge between three quarters and one quarter full. The computer will not run the diagnostics on the EVAP system if the gas gauge is outside of those parameters. Hope that helps! Jim
