more than likely, it's a fuse. the fuse block is either under steering wheel on the left or under the hood on top of the left wheel well.

if that does not work, your multi-function switch is kaput.

Did you ever find a fix for this? I have a 2010 f150 with the same problem. Accept mine is also the reverse and tail lights.

The wiring look from factory in the steering column is short sometimes. And from moving the wheel up n down it can come loose.

Has anybody found a fix to this problem? Tail lights, brake lights, reverse lights, liscense plate light are all out. The whole back half of my truck has no lights

Check rear wiring connector mine does this often have to get out and wiggle connector it seems to be a three piece connector have not found good fix yet,don't won't to replace complete harness

I had the same issue on my 2004 F-150 FX4. no brakes no blinker - running lights worked - intermittent reverse lights working. The strange part was that all my trailer hookups worked just fine- trailers both 4 way and 7 way connectors worked 100%. After spending a couple days under the truck I traced all the wiring back testing each coupling with the multimeter for blinkers brakes runn lights etc. On my truck, the rear light banks actually are the last thing to split off of the main wire harness and actually came out after the trailer hookups. I was receiving good signal there at the last coupling on the multi meter but lights were dead. I patched in a couple of wires and ran them directly to the blinker and it worked. It seems that the wiring shorted or broke or failed in some way between the last connector and the actual light banks - probably in the Y junction that breaks out to Left and Right about 2 ft past the connection. I was hoping I had the same "jiggle and pray" solution others have reported but no go. I am ordering a new factory cable harness and will install and report back. Oh and if you are new to this problem - you will need to drop the spare tire to see and access all these wire harnesses.

Also I might mention - in the interim as I do not have the luxury of a spare vehicle - I bought a cheap set of magnetic tow lights and placed them on the back of the truck and hooked them into the 4 way trailer connection -- It's not pretty - but it keeps me on the road and legal until I can get the wiring harness replaced.

I have been having the same problem however mine only does it when I connect a set of lights just above the running boards and connect them to the lights in the back of the truck to the brake lights and the turn signal lights, they work for a day or maybe two, but then everything in the back of the truck just stops working and when you turn on the turn signal they bling fast, and nothing in the back is working. But, disconnect the turn signal wire on the running board lights but leave the other wire connected and everything goes back to normal and everything works like nothing ever happened. How can I work around this so I can have the turn signal connected to the running board lights so they blink when I am making a turn????

usually/ sometimes it is the ground. check first before you tear everything appart..

I just had a 2016 f-150 doing the same thing. I checked the ground( just behind the spare tire on the inside of the frame). The wire had come loose at a connector. Put a new connector on it & cleaned it at the frame & now everything has been working fine...

yup loose connector hidden above cross frame just ahead of back bumper.. plug it in, seal it up

Move you tilt steering all the back to the highest setting. Just had this today after I moved the steering wheel. Didn't realize it. I had the hazard lights on and went to move the steering wheel to get a better look at the multifunction switch and hazards came back on along with the turn signals and brake lights.

I have an F150 2011 all my lights quit working and that radio center console quit working. I had to replace my alternator the two big main fuses off of the battery positive side and like six other fuses. But now the only thing that didn't work is my brake lights my tail lights my turning signals. The turning signals on my mirrors they work but they flash quickly and the brake light on my cab works.

Thank you everyone for the Q&A on this. I dropped the spare tire on my 2010 Ford F-150 XLT and located the harness/connector that is located near the bumper. Pulled it apart and clicked it back together while I had the key in the ignition and the turn signal on and VIOLA everything (brake lights and signal lights) came back on. Going to get back under there and treat the connections with some electronic cleaner since mine just seemed like a little corrosion problem and not a burnt wire or connection.

ive got a 92 f150 same type of deal.. no brake lights or turn signals everything else is good. any ideas?

I wound up cutting the black/green wire from both ends of the connector shown above and splicing the wire together because the problem kept reoccurring which had me going back under the bumper and playing with the connector at the most inopportune times. After the splicing I have had no more problems.

No cutting yet. What Richie said in his first post. Pulled the C405 connector. It was so corroded, cleaned it real good with CRC electrical contact cleaner. Snapped it back together, until it clicked. Everything works! We’d been struggling with this problem for awhile. Hoping this is the fix permanently!
