Question type: Shopping & Pricing

i am doing some research on the 2005 Ford Focus. I am wondering if there were any
recalled parts. Also are there any problems that this car is know for like for example the
transmission engine problems etc... I want a good car that will run for a long time. I am
not sure how long theses cars last hondas seem to be the longest running let me know.

No major problems that I can think of. Put some wheel bearings in some, a fuel pump or two. We see them all the time but general maintence is about the only thing we do. Dont think Ive ever done a recall on a 2005 focus. There not the best looking cars and they are noisey going down the road but there cheap so you can look past all that. I would have one there good cars trans and motor are solid just keep it serviced and maintained.

The only problem area according to Consumer Reports (on the 2005 model) is the Electrical System, otherwise it gets good marks in all other areas. If the Focus is anything like the car that I think preceded it ,the Ford Escort...which was a nice and reliable car that served my GF well for several years...I'd say go for it.

Yes very very much so with electrical problems #1 in the fuse block under steering wheel it shuts off all communication with computer and sends the car in to security mode.. #2 the grounds for the battery are famous for having issues and not just one ground check and clean / sand and treat all the grounds if there is any issues.. Not only is it easy but it's something people don't think about .

2005 Focus Would not start intermittently, haywire lights going off on the dash. Turned out to be two problems. Loose/corroded starter relay lug solved part of it. Replaced electronic starter switch fixed the rest. $95 part caused me a lot of grief and two weeks of searching.
