Radio control screen

Asked by GuruZ2M4Q Nov 26, 2017 at 04:55 PM about the 2010 GMC Terrain SLT1

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

A couple of weeks ago my car battery died my car
was left overnight and the next morning I jumped it
(apparently I jumped it from the fuse box not the
battery) I thought it was correct because the car
started but since then the computer system has
just been out of whack. The screen is just digital
lines there's a light on once in awhile it will go
black and come right back to the screen.

My husband has checked all the fuses and they are good.

You sent some strange electrons into the computer. Either reset the computer and merge it with all your electronic devices or look for the scorched card. Have you ever noticed tow trucks have a plug-in they attache their jumper cables to. Whey does not the auto industry do the same so it is easier to jumpstart the cars?

My car 2011 GMC Terrain is doing the same. Reset battery, checked fuses, reset via reverse/onstar and even replaced the display panel. Still no sound from blinkers or radio and have matrix lines. Heat and ac controls work fine. Any thoughts?

so all these comments describing the same issue (for the most part) are considered answers to the original post? Does anyone have a fix or are we just going to continue to relate our stories to the poster?

There is a trick we found a few years ago but we can’t remember exactly. Something like turning key on and of 3 time then opening and closing door. Worth a try.

These particular base radios were made horribly from the get-go. I think they're literally designed to die. What you're going to have to do is replace the head unit inside the dashboard. There is no other way around this. The video output of the head unit has failed. If you get a used unit, you'll have to take a trip to the dealer only to unlock it.
