Cylinder 1 Misfire

Asked by nickxhenderson Oct 11, 2016 at 04:23 PM about the 2010 Jeep Liberty Sport 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So this problem occurred roughly 3 weeks ago after an oil change
(probably unrelated). My Liberty is right at approx 80,000 miles. When I hit
45-50mph or 65-70mph the car will start to "jerk/hiccup". This is usually
remedied by taking my foot off the gas and then reapplying my foot to the
gas pedal but as of late that has not really been helping. I read the error
code and it is showing as a cylinder 1 misfire. I am planning on replacing
the spark plug and cylinder coil today, but if the problem persists I wanted
to see what other solutions people may have come up with on their own.
Thanks!

Move the coil and plug to another cylinder to see if the miss moves. It could also be the fuel injector.

So did you ever fix the problem just got the same vehicle 3 weeks ago and same symptoms you were having.

the coil fires on two cylinders it would show two cylinder misfires if it only isolates 1 cylinder has to be fuel injector or computer issues i have been working on my 2010.

Ended up solving the misfire issue, stalling while driving, and computer issues. Did so research and found out it was the crankshaft sensor. They usually only last for 75,000 miles and when I went to replace mine it fell apart. My 06 has 116,000 but I have no issues now.
