How do I install rear struts on a 2010 Dodge Journey

Installing struts can be dangerous due to the compressed coil spring on each strut. This job often is best left to a professional or a very competent do it your-selfer. I would take it to an alignment shop as it may need a 4 wheel alignment after installing struts.

This is a involved job to say the least. The molding panels in the rear compartment all have to come off to access the top strut mount bolts.After removing the rear panels, Jack up car and put on JACK STANDS! Remove wheel, caliper and rotor. Tie up caliper do NOT let it hang on the hose. Remove bottom strut bolt in control arm. Remove sway bar link(careful, at this point this will be only thing holding lower arm up these are often rusted on and are a pita to get off buy two new ones if this is the case). Now go into rear compartment and remove two bolts and strut will drop out. You will need a spring compressor to remove strut mount and spring and replace on new strut. This(removing spring)requires experience and mistakes can result in death and/or dismemberment no bull. install is reverse Goodluck!
