Sti engine to cvt

Asked by Johnny Mar 20, 2018 at 02:53 AM about the 2010 Subaru Outback 2.5i

Question type: Car Customization

I have a 2010 outback 2.5i (with over 150000
miles) and have the opurtunity to install a 2016 STI
engine with about 3000 miles on it for practically
free. I will have engine, turbo, intake, and exhaust.
My big question is if I will need to change the cvt.
I'm not sure if it could take the power.

I do not know if the STi CVT's were built any different that the ones in other cars but why not get the current transmission as well? I do suspect the 2016 ECU will not work properly with your current transmission. Be sure and get the wiring harness and ECU along with the engine as well as the intercooler. I think you will find free was anything but cheap but good luck.
