2010 Ford Focus won't start after accident

Another driver hit me on the rear
passenger door and on a small
portion of the tire panel on the driver
side of my car. I pulled over. Shut the
car off. Flashers were on. Maybe 5-
10 mins later my batter went
completely dead. No response to the
key in the ignition. Just a faint
clicking noise. Even when the key is
removed. No lights. No horn. I don't
know much about cars but my
assumption is that it is something
other than the battery. There was no
warning. My battery light didn't come
on. The car was running just fine
before. No problems with my battery.
I believe I just replaced it a few
months ago. Any ideas? Could
something have happened during the
impact? Of course the insurance
company is giving me a hard time. It
hasn't gone to a shop yet but I just
want to have some idea of what I
could be dealing with.

With an accident, it could be anything- without knowing how hard you were hit, I can only say that you will have to take it to a shop and let a professional look at it- that is what will have to happen anyway so an estimate can be worked up for your insurance co.

I would check the battery voltage and connections first. In some cases it does not take to long for lights to run a battery down. Have you tried jump starting it?
