HUMMER H3 2010 Check Engine Light Burned Out

Asked by GuruVZK1W Aug 05, 2018 at 11:38 AM about the 2010 Hummer H3 Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I had the check engine light on (usually from the gas cap), then it went off by
itself. Mechanic cleared codes but stated the CHECK ENGINE bulb burned
out. The HE won't pass inspection NYS because the it still reads a code that
the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT isn't functioning. Mechanic local garage said its
simply not a bulb BUT the whole dash unit. Thoughts? Lorie

RUSure they didn’t remove the Bulb? Not many people want to wrestle with under the dash, See if there is a bulb in the socket.U can also disconnect the Negative Black battery cable from the battery , Wait 3 minutes reconnect cable restart engine This resets cp to a certain degree.Sounds as the Mechanic wants to earn Extra Cash. Also by disconnecting Neg cable it will clear the pc of trouble codes until vechile lis driven a certain amount of miles.Wait at least 3 minutes After disconnect.
