Weird screeching sound when I turn right

Asked by ShelbyL24 Aug 14, 2013 at 05:14 PM about the 2010 Toyota Camry SE V6

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I hear a strange screeching sound when I turn right in my car. It doesn't happen every time
I turn right, but mostly when I am on a decline, or taking a sharp right. People who have
heard it think it may be my power steering, but I am able to turn just fine.

Does it happen while turning into a parking spot? Also, does it sound like tire squealing. If your alignment is out, it can cause the tires to squeal on turns. I would suspect with a 2010 Camry, the engine mounts would still be in tact. I could be wrong.

true...I thought that at first...but subject to demands beyond the engineered potential for abuse may give way....I don't know...what else could make pulleys chafe? a branch under the hood by an angry ex-lover?

a floorjack and small woodblock would tell if the sticky rubber part is still stickin'....just take it up a 1/2 to see if the engine is cohesive or separates easily...yes 2010 seems too new to have one of these go bad, but oil...environment...or just havin' a bad day could make it separate~....again like my California friend has asserted....I could be wrong [god forbid]~

could you possibly trying to turn it past it's turning radius causing the power steering pump pulley to squeal in pain (your pain)~?
