Although your car definitely does NOT require Premium Unleaded Gas (Unlike my Infiniti G37, which does)...You can't harm the Sentra by using a higher grade of gas. In the future though..save your $$ and just get Regular Unleaded Gas!

No ... it can't hurt the car ... but it can hurt your wallet

reason is when I used premium gas once, i felt lot of performance increase and i reached good speed under less rpm too but as per manufacturer, recommended is regular gas. Can you tell me if you are a car mechanic or something.

I'm not an auto mechanic, but just telling you what I believe makes sense. If I had a Nissan Sentra with a 2.0L 16 valve 4 cylinder, there's no way that I'd waste $$ on premium gas (not even if I had the more upscale and faster '09 Sentra Spec-V model with the 2.5L 4 cylinder)...But if you feel that the car performs better using it...then go for it. Here's something to check out on the subject: http://blog.truecar.com/2011/03/03/premium-vs-regular-gas/

Because the higher octane fuel is better at controlling preignition, your engine doesn't have to worry so much about backfire. When a car gets preignition, which is not as bad as a backfire but is not as good as an engine without preignition, it does not performs as well. Also, while most engines, unless recommended by the manufacturer, are not harmed by a lower grade fuel. Therefore, if you are willing to spend the big bucks because you want a smoother running motor, that's fine. If you are short on cash, you can go back to regular until you can afford something better.

Gas shortage on regular and mid grade only gas at pump is premium.

I do have a 2004 Nissan Sentra and when I did buy my car y8ears ago from a friend , mechanic I was then using reg gas , the check engine kept on going on . That's whenI was told to you premium gas or super reg gas . The octane is 89 , reg gas is 87 . So I've been 89 gas , or else .
