2009 Jeep Commander just over 200K miles, went into safe mode, engine won't turn over. Can it be saved? Advice?

I have a 2009 Jeep Commander that's just over 200K miles, and it went into
safe mode and had to get towed home. Can my car be saved? Looking for
mechanic diagnose and possibly to repair/replace engine.

The engine light began to blink, and the car would not accelerate. The engine light stopped. The engine light came back on, but not blinking, and I couldn't accelerate again, and I was able to get the car over to the shoulder. When the tow truck driver arrived, I explained what took place and he called it "Safe Mode".
