Car shaking

Asked by PlatinumPretti Jun 11, 2018 at 07:22 PM about the 2009 Chrysler 300 C RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My gas was on empty and then I filled it half way. The day
befor my car was running great. Soon after I put the gas in
it it started running funny. It was idling hard and it was slow
to accelerate. I noticed the slow acceleration instantly
because I have a hemi engine and I've never had this
problem. Also I can be sitting at a red light and it idles at
500 rpm. While still sitting there it will jump to 900 rpm.
Please tell .e what could be causing all of this. And it all
started after putting the gas in.

It's what most people think automatically, sure does sound like water in the gas, but it could also be that when you were real low on fuel ,some sediments from the bottom of the tank has partially clogged your pumps filter. Sounds like watery fuel though.

I have a 2006 Chrysler Hemi C, and just recently I have been having the same problem. Live in FL, and lots of rain here lately - just got gas last week on a low tank - and then a few days later had the accelerating problem. Felt like the car was getting ready to stall while driving, but I didn't have the revving problem in idle. Thought it could have been water/condensation in the gas tank (look online, lots of examples of that), but usually if that is the case, the car would act that way all the time after the gas put in, and might not start either. I didn't have that problem. So far it hasn't happened again, so could have been muck blowing through the gas line that blew out. Fingers crossed. There are gas tank additives you can buy for water issues, but I will wait until it happens again. If your problem has continued and not better, take care of it because it could ruin your injection system, according to these websites.
