'09 Jeep Liberty Cylinder Misfire, and other issues
I need help, advice, anything. Ever since I bought my Liberty (last April), I've
been having issues. The check engine light has been furious with me, turning
on for months at a time, turning off for months at a time, blinking at me, etc. I
took it in to a repair shop several times, spent a crap ton of money, to no avail.
Here are my issues: I got the codes checked, and they came back with P2181
(cooling system disrepair) and P0302 (Cylinder 2 Misfire.) The check engine
light has started to blink and ding at me this weekend. It starts to blink at
around 20 mph, and usually stops at 30-40 mph. If I continue to drive between
20-30 mph, it will continue blinking/dinging. The "service four wheel drive" and
ABS (I think) light have been coming on with the check engine light for the past
year. The vehicle jolts and sputters constantly. The best way to feel it is in
drive, without touching the gas or brakes. It moves my car forward in a jolting
motion. In park, it's running at 600 rpms, which I don't think is normal. The
temperature gauge also will jolt sometimes. It feels like the vehicle is struggling
to shift gears.
I've replaced the spark plugs, as well as several other things, to no avail. I
bought the vehicle, and the check engine light came on the next day after I
purchased it. I'm furious that I was sold a shit car, and have to deal with the
repercussions. I get my oil changed when I am supposed to, and I take decent
care of the vehicle (it goes on occasional off-road adventures with me though.)
I need help, advice, and someone who can help me be more educated on
what's happening in my vehicle, so when I take it in, I know what to expect,
and understand what's going on.
Misfire on cylinder #2 might also be a bad coil, Swap the coil to another cylinder and see if the code changes to P0304 as an example. Used Liberty's are to be avoided as you found out.

@Guru2RQN unfortunately, yes. when i went in, they estimated a 1700$ cost to replace the head gaskets. as they got further in, they found more problems. now i have to get a new engine for a car i'm too far in debt to get rid of, and can't afford the $4k engine. it sucks balls, man.
