2009 ford explorer 4x4 high

I drive a 2009 ford explorer. Yesterday I put my car in 4x4 high since the winter is coming. I usually have the car in 4x4 auto. I started the car and while it was in park pressed the 4x4 high button. As I was pulling out of the driveway the car seemed very sluggish at first. While I'm on the road it works just fine. Today as I was driving to school, I was pulling into a parking space and it was very sluggish like it was grinding or something of that sort. Is everything okay with the drive-terrain/transmission? I just want to make sure everything is working properly.

Do not run your car in 4x4 high on dry roads!!!! That sluggish feeling is the drive train binding up and possibly damaging your transfer case. Run it in auto 4x4 on dry roads. When there is snow or ice on the road then you can run it in 4 wheel drive.
