I once had this problem with my 2000 Nissan Altima. Take out the fuses for your brakes if you don't want your car to die. There is this little switch/button near your brake petal. And attached to your pedal is a little rubber piece that when your foot is off the brake, the button will be pushed in by the rubber piece, and the brake lights will be off. Sometimes the little rubber piece brakes and won't be long enough to push the switch in. You may need to replace the rubber piece. Did you find parts all over your floorboard?
