I have a 2009 vw jetta with an oil leak and was told I needed everything from a vacuum pump to a vapor cannister valve. Are they the same or work with each other or should I just trade it in? thanks

They are different things. The stuff it sounds like you need to fix, you could have a down payment for a new car, Trade it in.
