Question type: General

can I run 100% gas in my car even though it's not
flex-fuel?

Flex fuel means that it can run on E85 and it will run on today's fuel of E10, however if you do manage to find some actual regular unleaded gasoline without the E rating it will run on that too in fact it might even run a little better, but none of the stations will put that fuel in your vehicle, only in a gas can or an older carbureted vehicle or tractor.

So if your rig does not have FlexFuel any where on it stick with pump gas and use top tier fuels, and maybe every other tank of fuel add a bottle of Techron to the fuel tank, this stuff really helps keeping the fuel system clean, I have been using it for years and none of my rigs past or present have had any injector problems, in fact it even cured one that I had bought that just started to have a partially plugged injector. Added fuel to 2014 Ford escape SE while car vehicle was running. Check engine light came on two days later. What is the problem?

That's a no no, the fuel gets sucked up into the fuel vapor management system and can ruin the flow sensors as well as other emission control componets. Get the codes pulled, write them down and repost them back here and someone will jump in and help you along with further diagnosis. Or take it to your favorite shop for repairs.

Ok. Thanks! I will.

I went to autozone and was told I have to replace the map sensor. The part cost $25. No other code popped up. So is it safe to say, I didn't damage the vehicle from my mistake? Or, should I take it to a mechanic?

Replace the map sensor, clear the computer, do a drive time protocol while watching for the check engine light. If no light after 20 minutes of straight driving then your good to go.

Thanks! (fingers crossed)
